This occurs when a photon of higher energy, such as UV radiation, is absorbed by a molecule or material. In the case of Biolumen, polyphenols or proanthocyanidins absorb the UV radiation. The absorbed energy then excites electrons within the molecule, causing them to move to a higher energy level.

Step 2: Emission

The excited electrons release the absorbed energy in the form of a lower-energy photon, such as red light. This process of emission is what allows Biolumen to convert harmful UV radiation into beneficial red light.

Step 3: Process
